If you want to just sign up to take advantage of Prime Early Access Sale discounts (including early Prime Early Access Sale deals that are already live) and that's it, a free 30-day trial is the way to go.

If you're a college student, you're in luck, too, as you can sign up for a free six-month Amazon Prime Student trial. You must be enrolled in at least one course at an institution in the United States or Puerto Rico, have a working.edu email address and be able to show proof of enrollment if requested.

Amazon Household just requires that two adults (ages 18 and over) each have their own Amazon account, though only one must have a Prime membership. Thanks to this benefit, household members, including teens and children, are able to share Amazon Prime benefits such as free one-day Prime Delivery and Prime Video.

A Prime membership gives you the best of shopping and entertainment. Prime members get fast, free delivery on over 100 million items, even free same-day, one-day and 2-hour delivery on some items (available in select cities). Prime also includes streaming of thousands of popular movies and TV shows. Members can watch award-winning Amazon Originals, and even add channels like HBO or Showtime. Membership also includes millions of songs that can be streamed on the Amazon Music app or on your Echo simply by asking Alexa. You can learn more about these and other benefits by visiting www.amazon.com/prime.

Aside from the obvious 30-day free Prime trial, there exists some highly clever ways to get an Amazon Prime membership for free, or at least really CHEAP. Even the most loyal Amazon shoppers have no idea many of these Prime discounts exist. From credit card and cell phone companies offering a free membership, to Amazon themselves giving you a free Prime extension in certain circumstances, these clever tips will keep you from forking over $119 for a Prime membership for years to come.

You can rejoin Prime on the free trial just to take advantage of Prime Day deals. Or you can join for a month or two (one free, one paid) during the holiday shopping season to take advantage of deals.

Early in the life of Prime, the big get with the yearly membership dues was the free two-day (then one-day, and now in some regions, same-day) shipping. In the retail world, that was a rare perk. Now? Not so much.

Other retailers, including Walmart and Target, are offering free-shipping plans, as well as same-day, in-store pickup, without a $139 yearly membership fee. And both retailers are putting considerable effort and money into making drive-up pick-up easier and easier.

To be eligible for free grocery delivery, orders must be a minimum of $35 or $50 depending on where you live, a slight annoyance, perhaps, if you are a paying Prime member and your order doesn't reach that minimum.

Explore more than 100 products and start building on AWS using the Free Tier. Three different types of free offers are available depending on the product used. Click icon below to explore our offers.

12-Months Free: These free tier offers are only available to new AWS customers, and are available for 12 months following your AWS sign-up date. When your 12 month free usage term expires or if your application use exceeds the tiers, you simply pay standard, pay-as-you-go service rates (see each service page for full pricing details). Restrictions apply; see offer terms for more details.

Trials: These free tier offers are short term trial offers that start from the time of first usage begins. Once the trial period expires you simply pay standard, pay-as-you-go service rates (see each service page for full pricing details).

The AWS Free Tier provides customers the ability to explore and try out AWS services free of charge up to specified limits for each service. The Free Tier is comprised of three different types of offerings, a 12-month Free Tier, an Always Free offer, and short term trials. Services with a 12-month Free Tier allow customers to use the product for free up to specified limits for one year from the date the account was created. Services with an Always Free offer allow customers to use the product for free up to specified limits as long as they are an AWS customer. Services with a short term trial are free to use for a specified period of time or up to a one-time limit depending on the service selected. Details on the limits and services provided for free are detailed in each card on the Free Tier page. If your application use exceeds the free tier limits, you simply pay standard, pay-as-you-go service rates (see each service page for full pricing details). Restrictions apply; see offer terms for more details.

Services with a 12-month Free Tier allow customers to use the product for free up to specified limits for one year from the date the account was created. Services with an Always Free offer allow you to use the product for free up to specified limits as long as you have a valid AWS account. Services with a short term trial are free to use for a specified period of time or up to a one-time limit depending on the service selected. When your free tier expires or if your application use exceeds the free tier limits, you simply pay standard, pay-as-you-go service rates (see each service page for full pricing details). Restrictions apply; see offer terms for more details.

The AWS Free Tier is available to new AWS accounts. The free tier applies to certain participating AWS services up to a specific maximum amount of usage each month. Applicable services and usage limits are defined at aws.amazon.com/free. When an account goes over the free tier limit, the standard AWS service rates will be billed to your credit card.

If you have not exceeded the limits of the free tier, you may have been charged for other AWS services that are not covered under the free tier. Some examples include: if you are running an Amazon EC2 t2.small instance rather than a t2.micro instance, or if you are using a service not included in the offer, such as Amazon Aurora. To review your AWS usage activity, log into your Billing & Cost Management Dashboard.

The AWS Free Tier applies to participating services across our global regions. Your free usage under the AWS Free Tier is calculated each month across all regions and automatically applied to your bill. For example, you will receive 750 Amazon EC2 Linux Micro Instance hours for free across all of the regions you use, not 750 hours per region. Unused monthly usage will not roll over to future months. The AWS Free Tier is now available in the China (ZHY) and China (BJS) regions as well. The AWS Free Tier is not available in the AWS GovCloud (US) regions, with the exception of Lambda for AWS GovCloud (US).

The EC2 instance sizes available as part of the free tier depends on the region you choose to provision your resources. Some regions like the Middle East (Bahrain) region and the EU (Stockholm) region do not offer t2.micro instances. In cases like these, AWS offers the same 750 hour usage on t3.micro instances as they do for t2.micro instances in other regions. Check the console in the region you plan to provision your resources or use the describe-instance-types API to determine which one is free tier in any specific region.

Prime is free to join for 30 days(Opens in a new window) for first-time subscribers, so you can try it without making a year-long commitment. Sign up ahead of Prime Day or at the holidays to get free shipping on gift purchases and then cancel, for example. There's also a monthly Prime subscription at $14.99, though if you plan to use it for any length of time, an annual fee is a better deal.

The main Prime perk is free, two-day shipping, but Prime members also get streaming via Prime Video, as well as Prime Music, Prime Reading, and Amazon Photos. If you're a regular Amazon user, Prime is a pretty good deal. But perhaps you're on a budget and are looking for ways to pay less than $139 for Amazon Prime free shipping and other perks. Here are some options.

Students who sign up for Prime Student(Opens in a new window) get a six-month trial that includes free, two-day shipping on Prime items, free same-day delivery in certain areas, and two-hour grocery delivery, as well as access to Prime Video, Prime Music, Amazon Photos, Prime Reading, and Amazon Photos. Other perks include discounted access to streaming add-ons and services like LinkedIn Premium, Calm, and Course Hero. (The Grubhub+ free delivery promotion also applies here.) Once the six-month trial is up, Amazon charges $69 per year or $7.49 per month for four years or until graduation, whatever comes first. To qualify, you'll need a .edu email address.

If you have a valid Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) or Medicaid card, you can sign up for Amazon Prime for $6.99 per month(Opens in a new window) for up to four years. After Amazon verifies your accounts, you're eligible for free, two-day shipping, Prime Video, Amazon Photos, and more. EBT/Medicaid status will have to be verified every 12 months; Amazon will email you to re-verify.

If free shipping is your game, Amazon offers free shipping on orders of $25 or more(Opens in a new window) for those without Prime, with delivery in 5-8 business days. With millions of items, it's not hard to rack up enough items to hit the $25 mark. Some items are not eligible; look for "FREE Shipping" messaging on the product detail page to see if your item qualifies. You can get free, one-day shipping when buying gift cards, but they don't apply to the $25 total, Amazon says. If you're just shy of $25, select a cheap, add-on item(Opens in a new window).

Similarly, shoppers who tend to buy the same things should look into a Subscribe & Save Membership(Opens in a new window). Although it does not cover everything on the site, members can save up to 15% on orders and receive free shipping on every Subscribe & Save order. Members must select eligible items, and choose a delivery schedule to subscribe. While it's not as expansive(Opens in a new window) as an Amazon Prime membership, it is convenient and worth a look. 2ff7e9595c
