I recently had windows XP on a Dell precision M6400 die randomly, when I restored the computer I had to install all the drives. First, Dell sucks when it comes to the drivers CD, half of the needed drivers weren't even on the CD. I found most of them on Dell.com, but I cannot find the driver for the fingerprint scanner. Device manager has it labled as a Broadcom USH w/swipe sensor. I have called dell, the nice girl from dell tech support said that dell did not have any type of finger print scanners installed on any M6400 laptop computers and had no idea what I was talking about, and I have called broadcom, they told me to call dell back. So far I have talked to 3 idiot dell tech support people ( I cant blame them, I have done there job and was just as clueless with new computers). I know the computer is an M6400, when I look up the Service tag it says M6400, the LCD says M6400. Does anyone have a clue where I can find that driver? It is not on dell.com or broadcom's website, there tech support departments told me so and I cant find it looking through the respective websites.
Broadcom Ush W Swipe Sensor Dell Driver 17
My operating system is XP. I've installed newest patches and drivers from Dell's side inc: Dell_ControlPoint-Security-M_A07_R204024 and Dell_ControlPoint-Security-M_A07_R206690. I've also replaced bioapi100.dll and bioapi_mds300.dll with versions having 29.05.2008: 17:16 timestamp. Also dell support replaced old sensor with new one.
I have a Dell latitude e6410 running windows 7 professional 32-bit. Upon getting this thing home, i noticed that the recovery is inaccessible and a handful of the drivers were missing and the previous owner had a bunch of them randomly saved on his desktop. So, i went to work trying to undo any damage this person may have done. I've gotten everything sorted out so far, EXCEPT i'm still missing a broadcom USH w/ swipe sensor driver according to my device manager. I've gone through the list of available drivers for the 32-bit operating system for this laptop, i've installed in correct orders, etc. Does anyone out there have any ideas what could be my problem and how to resolve it?
I am running Windows 8 64-bit on a Dell Latitude E6430. In device manager under Other Devices it lists Broadcom USH w/swipe sensor and there are no drivers installed for it. I cannot find drivers or Dell ControlPoint for Windows 8 64-bit or any downloads under Security on the support website for Windows 8 64-bit. Does anybody know when something might be released or have a link to download what I am missing?

On Dell E-series laptops the fingerprint sensor is connected via proprietary interface from Broadcom and UPEK/Authentec driver cannot communicate with the device at all. The driver cannot see the sensor - it is "hidden" behind the Broadcom chip :-(I could REM out a line of code or two in INF file of the fingerprint sensor deviceWell, I would love to have a complete information about that ;-) But frankly speaking I don't see any logical reason why to do this. Even if you modify the VID and PID list in the Broadcom driver INF file, it simply cannot start working with the fingerprint reader. It's like if you want modify your video drivers to control your printer ;-) Broadcom coprocessor and our fingerprint sensor are completely different devices, each of them requires a different driver. Furthermore, as far as I know, the fingerprint reader is not enumerated by the system at all.
